Message from the Chairman

The Department of Otolaryngology at the Friedrich-Schiller-University provides state of the art patient care and research in the field of Otolaryngology.

The spectrum of Ear, Nose & Throat disorders as well as Head & Neck disease are treated by many experienced faculty members. Besides a busy clinical program, the department prides itself on clinical and basic research in the field of Otolaryngology. There is an active residency and fellowship training program as well as weekly conferences, lectures, and guest speakers.

Clinically, the faculty of the department enjoy a national and international reputation for providing highest quality and the state of the art patient care in all areas of Otolaryngology: facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, general otolaryngology, head and neck surgery and oncology, otology, neurotology, skull base surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, rhinology, laryngology, and professional voice.

The department is also recognized for its cutting edge clinical and basic science research in head and neck cancer, nerve regeneration neuroscience, and biomaterial science. Its world renowned scientists have made seminal contributions that have enhanced care of patients with diseases of the ear, nose and throat.
